Trails, sun and pure joy of running: our review of the running camp at the Achensee

What an unforgettable time it was. From 6 to 10 May we got to run a brilliant trail running camp at the beautiful Achensee. If we had to sum up the last few days in three words, it would probably be: sun, trails and team spirit.

We look back on dusty running shoes, beaming faces and plenty of vertical metres, all against one of the most beautiful backdrops in the Alps.

The full programme: more than "just" running

Our camp was all about well-rounded training. Of course the great, varied trails around the Achensee were the main focus, with everything from tough uphills to flowing downhill sections.

But staying healthy and strong on the trails in the long run takes more than that. So our programme rested on several pillars:

  • Running technique and trail practice: full focus on correct posture and sure footing on technical terrain.
  • Functional training and mobility: targeted sessions to strengthen our muscles and keep our joints supple.
  • Breathing exercises: the key to recovery and to the best oxygen supply under strain.

Thanks to the professional guidance of our coaching trio, Guy, Fiona and Jasmin Nunige, everyone, whether trail rookie or experienced runner, got real value and could take home useful input for their own training.

Recovery at its finest: the Hotel Rieser

After the intense hours in the mountains, we had just one goal: the Hotel Rieser in Pertisau. A huge thank you to the whole hotel team. You played a big part in making our recovery after the runs perfect.

The best regional food filled our energy stores back up in no time, and the beautiful wellness area was exactly what our tired running legs needed after all those vertical metres. Pure luxury for body and soul.

Thank you to our fantastic participants

A camp is only ever as good as its community, and our group was simply great. A huge thank you to everyone who took part, for your effort in training, your ambition, and above all for the many fun, easy-going hours we got to spend together in our running shoes. The togetherness and the energy in the group were simply infectious.

The Achensee trails certainly haven't seen the last of us.

Until next time on the trails, stay sporty. Jasmin, Fiona & Guy
